60MW 'green' power plant given the go-ahead

A new 60MW power plant, fuelled by biomass and waste, has been given the green light by the government today.
Energy and Climate Change minister Lord Hunt said the power station will “reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and make use of renewable sources of fuel”, two steps needed “if we are to tackle climate change.”
Lord Hunt also highlighted the employment opportunities the project would bring, discussing a three-year construction plan on a disused site at Tilbury Docks in Essex, with up to 380 jobs at the peak of construction and up to 120 jobs when the plant is operational.
