Electrical Engineer

If you’re an Electrical Engineer with experience working within the Power Utility Sector and you’re looking for a new challenge, you might be interested in the following position. You’ll be working for a major power organisation who specialise in the provision of energy. You’ll be working for the Contracting Operations section that are responsible for the design and delivery of electrical construction, operations and maintenance projects to private customers and EDF Energy Networks branch.
The post is within the Capital Programme & Major Projects Design Team reporting to the Design & Technical Manager. You’ll be responsible for producing detailed electrical designs on both regulated and private networks from a scope provided by Project Managers, Customers or ITT’s and will include project costings to customer requirements for time, quality and budget. You will liaise with the EEPW and commercial support team ensuring compliance to design, CDM and relevant standards for both the regulated and private distribution network solutions for all customers.
Your principal responsibilities will include:
  1. Production of Electrical Designs that can be constructed in a safe efficient manner.
  2. Produce effective designs, which conform to all relevant Codes of Practice and company and industry standards.
  3. Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations and company procedures.
  4. Completion or management of protection studies up to 132kV to determine the most appropriate technical solution for new and reinforced networks as part of the development of schemes prior to approval
  5. The production of protection settings for networks from 11kV to 132kV for all Directorates within Networks in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  6. Compliance with design assurance and audit processes
  7. Complying with the requirements of the designer as determined by the CDM Regulations (as amended in April 2007)
  8. Supporting and mentoring other members of the team to enhance their technical knowledge and experience.
  9. Preparation of tenders and quotations, from specifications and drawings within defined periods.
  10. Provide an excellent service to the customer.
  11. Effectively manage work load
You’ll be qualified to Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer Status (via HNC/HND or degree in electrical engineering) with proven relevant experience.
