Commissioning Engineer

A well known professional Energy company are currently looking to appoint a Commissioning Engineer on a contract basis to work in central London.
The job position includes:
  • Ensures that commissioning activities are conducted in accordance with the relevant Management Systems Procedures (MSP) and Construction Management Documentation (CMD) Procedures.
  • Monitor, witness and test all commissioning activities relating to any installations carried out by contractors on London Underground site.
  • Monitor and co-ordinate as necessary the interfaces between the company and contractors responsible for the commissioning activities.
  • Co-ordinate commissioning and documentation for work packages. Review and approve Commissioning documentation and associated Method Statements for site works.
  • Effect inspections verifying snag list items and clearance of snags
  • Identify testing and commissioning activities within Project programme and ensure that any additional test or specialist requirements are implemented and recorded.
  • Ensure Quality Assurance procedures are maintained for the commissioning and Taking-Over of plant and equipment.
  • Monitor design and implementation requirements in order to facilitate effective co-ordination of progress through the life cycle of the work package.
  • Ensure any design changes deemed necessary as part of commissioning are authorised and conform within the change control process.
  • Ensure risk assessments and other safety documents are in place, approved and dealt with promptly.
  • Undertakes commissioning duties as directed and deemed competent.
  • HV1 duties.
  • Manual Switching
  • ID, Spike, Cut and phasing of HV cables
  • Live Phasing
  • Taking a Substation/Switch-House into local control
  • CDM aware
  • Verifying the functionality of protection and control schemes as a whole
  • In depth knowledge of protection and control schemes, relays and associated switch groups.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
  • HND, HNC or BTEC
  • LU safety and operations certification.
  • Powerlink management training courses.
  • Powerlink HV and LV Safety Rules.
  • Safety Critical Licensing
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations
  • Must have experience/authorisation in MV isolations and issuing of permits.
  • Hands on knowledge and experience in fault finding and testing of numerical and multifunction relays.
  • Knowledge and experience with read and writing logic control programs.
  • A strong background in fault finding and testing of electrical systems.
  • A strong knowledge of reading and understanding schematics drawings.
  • Experience in DC traction and rectification preferable.
  • Function testing and commissioning knowledge of MV switchgear a necessity
  • An above average computer knowledge including communication protocols to electronic relays.
  • Must be able to Commission an 11kV or above Switchboard from start to finish without supervision.
  • Review of design specification and functionality to as built drawings and installation.
