Climate change activists targeted Laing O’Rourke’s Dartford offices last week, in protest at the contractor’s bid to build a new coal-fired power station at Kingsnorth, Kent.
Activists scaled the building, unfurling a banner which read: “Don’t Build Kingsnorth”.
Another group was said to have reached the second floor of the building, handing out leaflets and talking to staff.
Pressure group, Don’t Build Kingsnorth claims the power station would emit “more carbon dioxide than the entire country of Ghana”, and would “directly contribute to an unprecedented environmental catastrophe”.
A Laing O’Rourke spokesman said: “A small number of individuals held a brief peaceful protest”. Protestors went into the building’s reception area, were quickly asked to leave and finished their protest outside within an hour.
The protest follows others in June at the offices of Bam Nuttall, another of the six companies bidding for the Kingsnorth contract.
