Welsh firm lands wind farm contract

A leading Dutch energy firm has hired a North Wales engineering company to build the infrastructure for a new wind farm in Aberdeenshire.
Eneco have awarded a £3.5 million contract to Jones Bros, from Ruthin, near Wrexham, to work on the seven-turbine Tullo Wind Farm.
The new farm, which will generate enough electricity to power 9,000 homes a year with a capacity of 16 megawatts, is expected to be operational next year.
Jones Bros contracts director John Dielhof said: “It is testimony to our depth of expertise in the field that Jones Bros has been selected to provide the balance of the plant for their first project in the UK.”
The latest contract follows a £19 million infrastructure contract for a wind farm in the Scottish borders with Fred Olsen Renewables. Jones Bros have also worked on wind farms around Wales, including sites in Aberystwyth, Carno, Mid Wales and Meologan, North Wales.
