Protests over only UK wind turbine plant closure

Workers occupied a wind turbine factory in Newport, Isle of Wight last night to protest against its closure.

The protestors are demanding that the government should step in to rescue the plant through nationalisation. The Vestas wind turbine factory is thought to be the only wind turbine factory in the UK. Vestas announced its closure in April, citing a slowdown in demand.
