Solar panel installations could provide boost to residential construction jobs

Those in residential construction jobs could be installing solar panels in all future housing developments, it has been suggested.
The National Energy Foundation (NEF) has said that solar panels should be an integral part of all new homes, which could spell further work for people involved in residential construction work.
An NEF spokesperson said that all new homes must "be very well insulated" as well as "getting as much out of solar" as possible.
"I still firmly believe that every single property that is built in the UK, if it doesn't have solar panels on it [...] then I ask, 'Why?'," the spokesperson said. "Solar is an infinite quantity; there is 8,300 times more solar energy that comes onto the planet each year than we use."
A recent report from UK Climate Projections suggested that average mean temperatures in Britain were likely to increase by more than 2C by 2050, with carbon emissions partly responsible for the rise.
