Engineering jobs could be created by Anglesey power station

Hundreds of engineering jobs could be created as a result of plans to build a power station on the island of Anglesey, off the coast of Wales.
The North Wales Chronicle reports that Anglesey Aluminium Metals wish to build a £600 million wood-burning power station to generate their own electricity.
According to the paper, such a move would lead to the creation of 600 construction jobs and 100 energy engineering jobs at the plant, once it becomes operational in 2013.
Welsh assembly member Ieuan Wyn Jones was quoted by the Chronicle as saying that the proposal could contribute significantly to the economy if it was quickly approved.
However, he added that the move might not help Anglesey Aluminium Metals to overcome its short-term contract difficulties.
"We must redouble our efforts to secure an energy contract which will allow the company to maintain its full operations beyond September this year," Mr Jones said.
Earlier this month, energy company E.ON revealed that work on its 150MW Portbury Dock Renewable Energy Plant near Bristol is set to begin next year.
