Wildcat strikes hit UK power plants over overseas workers

UK workers are today walking out in wildcat strikes at power stations in the north west in protest over the employment of people from overseas.
Around 900 contractors working on the Sellafield nuclear site in Cumbria have decided on a day of industrial action in support of workers at the Lindsey Oil Refinery in North Lincolnshire.
Meanwhile, around 300 workers at Heysham in Lancashire and between 200 and 300 people at Fiddler's Ferry power station in Warrington are reported to have walked out with similar concerns over the use of foreign labour.
Manufacturing, technical and skilled workers union Unite said it was aware of the action and that it would release a statement later today.
