Giant wave energy project makes progress

The world's largest wave energy project could be up and running off the UK's South-west coast in two years' time.
Wave Hub - which will be installed 10 miles off Hayle on the north coast of Cornwall - is a giant seabed "electric socket" connected by cable to the National Grid.
It will enable the pre-commercial testing of wave energy devices on a scale not seen before.
The South West Regional Development Agency has selected J P Kenny, part of international energy services company John Wood Group, as its engineering and management contractor for the project.
The RDA is leading the development of Wave Hub and it is anticipated that up to 30 devices could be deployed.
Consents have already been obtained from the UK Government for the Wave Hub site.
Over the next few months, J P Kenny will be working on the concept designs for Wave Hub, progressing to detailed designs by May of next year.
